Rules

Competition Regulations

  • Competitors must present themselves at the competition with an identity document.
  • The competition program is recommended to be performed by memory (except for sonatas).
  • Competitors must provide their own accompanying pianist. In special cases of absence of an accompanying pianist, the competitor may contact the secretariat to find a possible solution.
  • The competition is open to the public.
  • During the competition, audio-visual recordings as well as photographs are allowed.
  • The order of performance will be announced by the organizers on the website and will also be displayed at the competition venue, the “Migjeni” Theatre.
  • The jury has the right to interrupt the performance if the performance time is exceeded. The competition duration must be respected according to the division of categories shown in the table.

Repertoire

The competition repertoire is free, where two pieces from different periods and styles may be included. We recommend that competitors also pay attention to works created by Pjetër Gaci (in the specialties where the author has compositions). Etudes and Caprices, as well as works by J. S. Bach, are also another option to demonstrate the level of each competitor’s training.

Evaluation Rules

  • The competition is conducted according to specialties (division by instruments), as well as based on category divisions (division by age groups).
  • At the end of the competition for each category, the respective Jury distributes participation certificates to each competitor. The winners of the first three prizes in each category are awarded the corresponding diplomas. From these winners, a selection is made of competitors who will participate in the final night concert.
  • On the final night, competitors compete for the grand prizes, where all specialties and categories participate together. The winners of the top three places are awarded grand prize diplomas and are also rewarded with honorariums.
  • The jury of the final concert consists of the members of both Juries together, chaired by the Artistic Director of the competition.
  • The decisions of the Jury are final and cannot be contested or appealed.
